Can Networks of Excellence in TEL reach sustainability?
Barbara Kieslinger, Center for Social Innovations (Vienna, AT)
The talk will focus on first experiences with performance indicators
measuring the impact and integration of an NoE as well as lessons learned
after one year.Following a short general introduction the talk will focus
on measurable indicators that support the guidance of NoEs addressing
especially sustainability and performance issues. In addition, the talk
will show the development of the PROLEARN NoE and stress some lessons
learned that help to establish the NoE as a self-sustainable instrument
for research co-operations. Examples will also be given on how the two
NoEs (PROLEARN and KALEIDOSCOPE) can and should continue to cooperate and
how they complement each other.

What the network of excellence can bring to the community, an
European and international perspective
Nicolas Balacheff Kaleidoscope scientific manager, CNRS (Grenoble,
FR)
The FP6 Networks of Excellence are seen by the European Union as
"instruments", intended to contribute to structuring of the
European Research Area in their domain. We will present the vision of
Kaleidoscope in relation to this general objective, and its strategy to
contribute to the success of ERA in the domain of technology for human
learning. This presentation will be rooted in the first lessons learned
after a year of experience. It will invite the audience to a discussion
on the value of such an instrument for the research community, and to
express its expectations from a European and an international
perspective.
